This study analyzed the recovery of oil from oil shale by use of proposed systems which incorporate beneficiation of the shale ore (that is concentration of the kerogen before the oil-recovery step). The objective was to identify systems which could be more attractive than conventional surface retorting of ore. No experimental work was carried out.
A process is provided for recovering vanadium values from highly alkaline, calcium-rich calcines, which are usually the roasted product of low-grade vanadium-bearing calcitic ores. The process involves slurrying the calcine in water and carbonating the slurry to a pH of 5.0 to 9.0 to extract the soluble vanadium species from the slurry.
· Vanadium also occurs in fossil fuels such as crude oil, coal and tar sands. Nearly all of the world's vanadium is derived from mineral concentrates (typically vanadium-rich and titanium-rich magnetite) separated from mined ore, or as a by-product of steel-making slags.
· In order to recover vanadium from vanadium-bearing black shale efficiently, a hydrometallurgical process is developed in this paper to treat the concentrate beneficiated from stone coal ore, in which the vanadium mainly occurs in the form of Fe 3-x V x O 4 spinel. At the first step, the leaching behaviors of Fe and V from the concentrate by using sulfuric acid …
· gas of the oil shale can be used for cities, industrial projects, etc. A significant amount of inorganic minerals is produced when oil shale is mined, leading to a decrease in the grade and yield of the oil shale, and to an increase in the cost of the pyrolysis stage of production. These factors make oil shale energy less readily usable.

· Although it is difficult to separate pure kerogen from oil shale, relative beneficiation of kerogen from raw oil shale could be realized using the gravity separation method. After the separation of raw oil shale using a dense medium cyclone, separation products can be used in different ways according to their quality, the kerogen-rich products ...

· gaining access to the ore or mineral body. Tailings are the wastes generated by several physical and chemical beneficiation processes that may be used to separate the valuable metal or mineral from the interbedded rock; the choice of process depends on the composition and properties of the ore and of the gangue, the rock in which the ore occurs.
· molybdenum, as well as oil shale. Objective: To delineate economic vanadium and molybdenum mineralisation within the Toolebuc Formation, carry out metallurgical testing to provide the most efficient process for treating the ore and establish a mining operation to economically extract the mineralisation.

Vanadium is used primarily in the production of steel alloys; as a catalyst for the chemical industry; in the making of ceramics, glasses, and pigments; and in vanadium redox-flow batteries (VRBs) for large-scale storage of electricity. World vanadium resources in 2012 were estimated to be 63 million metric tons, which include about 14 million metric tons of reserves.
· Analysis of the unoxidised oil shale identified that 65% of the vanadium is contained in the mixed layer clays, 10% in pyrite and 25% in kerogen. In the weathered oil shale horizon, 25% of the vanadium is typically in goethite and 75% in vanadiferous clays. Beneficiation tests on mineralized shale suggested that it would be feasible to increase the
